The number of participants to LIVING 2008 will be limited to approximately 300 delegates. Being a conference for people living with HIV, all these delegates will be living with HIV.

As it is recognized many of the delegates will be working in a volunteer capacity in community level organisations, an extensive scholarship program has been set up together with the International AIDS Society. Scholarships cover both the LIVING 2008 as well as the AIDS 2008 conference. Application for scholarships to participate in the Summit was run through the AIDS 2008 International Scholarship Programme.

There was an additional procedure for self supporting delegates. The details below are for reference only, the application closed on 31 May 2008, no more applications will be considered.

LIVING 2008: The Positive Leadership Summit will take place at the Fiesta Americana Reforma Hotel, Mexico City, immediately before the XVI International AIDS Conference. The Summit builds on the advocacy agenda articulated at the HIV+Monaco Conference (January 2008), as well as the Global Consultation on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (December 2007).

Selection of participants

Please note that a selection committee has reviewed all applications for self-supporting participation to ensure geographical and linguistic distribution, gender balance, representation of all key populations and a diversity of experiences and backgrounds. During the Summit there will be simultaneous interpretation from and into English, French and Spanish; whisper interpretation will be available for Russian. Successful applicants will be notified by 12 June 2008.

Scholarships and Financial Support

This application for participation does not include any financial support. Applicants are expected to cover all expenses of their participation. You did not need to fill out this form if you were awarded a scholarship to attend the Summit, this application process is only for the self-supporting participation.

Accommodation

A sufficient number of rooms have been reserved for the duration of the Summit and the International AIDS Conference at the Fiesta Americana Reforma Hotel. Successful applicants will be notified on details on accommodation and means of payment.
